Grace's Cookies - 1st sale of the year!

AIS Middle School’s
First Grace’s Cookies Sale
of the 2012-2013 School Year
–– HUGE SUCCESS!

The first cookie sale of the year was a huge success, raising over 7 million VND for Grace’s Cookies! The delicious chocolate chip and heart-shaped sugar cookies sold fast during the two lunch periods on Friday.

These cookies are not only the perfect mid-day sweet treat but also go towards an amazing cause. AIS has been involved with Grace’s Cookies for 3 years now and both the students and teachers appreciate being able to be a part of helping to raise money for lifesaving heart surgeries right here in Vietnam.

All week, we have been excitedly anticipating the cookie sale. Ms. Elizabeth, Ms. Donna, Ms. Stacia, and the girls involved in the Dressing Room Project set up and ran the cookie sale, amidst a crowd of cookie-hungry students (and teachers!).

We look forward to another cookie sale coming up soon. It feels great to be involved with this fundraiser, which ultimately helps to save children’s lives in Vietnam by supplying the money for lifesaving heart surgery.

stocking up on good reads!

I (Ms. Stacia) have a loooong list of books on my to-read list!

I am finally (FINALLY!) reading Gary Paulsen's book, Hatchet... it's not my typical pick... but I'm really enjoying this survival story!

Part of my lunch period this Friday included my going through the to-read list and choosing some books to take home... stocking up a good looking pile of books to choose from! I'm pretty excited of the pile of books sitting next to me right now... you can see which books I've picked in the photos below (...feel free to stop by next week to talk about any / all of these books... and let me know what you think of some if you've read them!)

I've read many books by Gordon Korman (Swindle, Schooled, No More Dead Dogs, to name a few, in case you want to read some of his other books...)
...And last year a student recommended the following book to me...

Jerry Spinelli is one of my favorite authors!

Another Jerry Spinelli book...

7th grader, Leena, JUST recommended this book to me!
(So I checked it out to myself and added it to my stack of books.)
...It is the first in a set of 3 books   :)

Now... let's hope it stops raining
so I can safely get these books home on my motorbike!   :P

Club READ ...pillows!

Club READ is awesome!

A local tailor made pillows for us out of various fabrics (that may or may not match a lot of Ms. Stacia's wardrobe! Haha)... We had fun filling the pillows with stuffing... and should be getting more next week for the rest of the pillows.

Not only beautiful... comfy too!

Minou and Elisa  :)

Teamwork to create some pillows...

Khai reading manga on the computer...

Davina found a good spot!

Rosie... comfy with Harry Potter...

Penny and Susie got creative with the clean-up!
